Question : My Mom has had a blood clot in her leg for over 12 years. Dr. inserted a stent for it. For 12 years she has been treated for severe leg pain with Percocet. Can you recommend any other pain relief meds that could take the place of her current. She wants to stop the Percocet.

                                    Brief Answer:
It is a good medicine.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Percocet contains Acetaminophen and oxycodone.
Alternative pain killers are Ibuprofen, Diclofenac sodium which are Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAID).Complications like stomach burning ,ulcers, kidney damage etc are more with these drugs.
So,I prefer Percocet instead of these medicines.
In some patients, I tried Tablet containing Tramadol with paracetamol with good results. She can try this.If any complication like Dizziness, vomiting etc arises, please stop the drug and continue the same medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish her good health.
Regards
