Question: Morton Grove stopped making lactulose by the brand name "MGP". They made it with a material they imported from South XXXXXXX I have been taking it for 15 years. After a long search 15 years ago, it was the the only brand that worked for me. Wockhardt bought Morton Grove in 2007? and they have replaced "MGP" with "Wockhardt" which is a different formulation and NDC number. I can take 3 to 4 oz and it doesn't work for me. I'm between a rock and a hard place. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Try Duphalac or Movicol

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The brand I prescribe for my patients is Duphalac made by Abbott Health Care, Southampton and it seems to work for the majority of my patients. Usually 15ml to 30ml at bed time is sufficient. You could try 30ml or more.
In the few patients in whom it does not give a satisfactory result, I prescribe Movicol. The usual dose is 2 XXXXXXX in 250 ml of water at bed time but can use more depending on response.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,
