Suggest Alternative Transparent Retainers To Replace Essix

default
Posted on Thu, 28 Sep 2017
Question: I will be having 3 teeth extracted and implants placed in. As a temporary my dentist wants to use an essix reatiner until my tissue heals and I can have a snap on smile made. Is there an alternative, I feel that I will be very self-concious about a piece of plastic on my upper teeth. I am in college and I interact with a lot of people, so I feel that the essix will be noticible and probably asked about. If there is not another option how long would I have to put up with it, and would I be able to conceal it in anyway?

Brief Answer:
No alternatives, but don't worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing in.

It's mandatory to keep that retainer to maintain that gap. Timing depends on your healing. It may be in between 1-6 months but your dentist can tell you exactly.

Don't worry, once you start wearing it, you will get used to it. It's transparent, so less chances of being noticeable.

Hope I answered your query,

Kind regards
