Brief Answer:
Many causes, some suggestions

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
It really depends upon what caused your kidney failure, but there are some things you can do that will definitely help protect your kidneys.
Make sure your blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol are all normal.
Exercise regularly as you can.
Take all medication as prescribed.
Go on a low protein diet. Your kidney doctor can give you specific suggestions, but limiting meat is a great idea to start with.
Get rid of all salt in your diet. This means no added salt but also no canned or processed foods. Sodium should be limited to 2000 mg daily.
Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications like advil or aleve. In fact, it is better not to take any over the counter medicine unless you speak to your kidney doctor first.
I wish you the best.
Please let me know if you have other questions.
