Susten is micronised progesterone tablet which helps to maintain pregnancy.. Progesterone is naturally produced by placenta. Its deficiency can cause thretened abortion.It is available as tablet and vaginal tablets.
Recently developed progesterone that is dydrogesterone has helped to maintain pregnancy and found to be more effective than susten. Always consult your gynaecologist prior to taking any tablets.

This really helped us, I have one more query that while my wife was on Susten, she developed some skin allergies and had infection also, and she is diabetic & suffering from hyper thyroidism also. That is why we are concerned about susten. Kindly suggest.

Reaction with susten is not known but hypersensitivity cannot be predicted. It varies from person to person..
Since she had a reaction with susten, consult your treating doctor to know whether susten is really required. If not it can be stopped. Changing over to dydrogesterone might help if progesterone is required but its advisable to take the first dose in hospital to see for any reaction. No controlled study is available in pregnant patients. No effect on diabetes or thyroid is known. The drugs for diabetes and hyperthyroidism can be safely continued.
