Brief Answer:
No need to strictly observe dog and please take 5 doses

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. If it is 10 days from vaccination then there is no need to observe dog strictly. However it is your own dog and you will keep your dog for many years now.

2. The purpose of the vaccine is to produce anti rabies antibodies. This takes up to a month and if you take 5 vaccines then there will be a better immune response and you will be safe.

3. In international standards, rabies antibodies level should be more than 0.5 IU/ ml. This usually takes a month and can be achieved quickly with 5 vaccine dose schedule and therefore I recommend that you take 5 doses of vaccine. This will make you completely safe from rabies for about 5 years. However if any dog bite occurs after one year then booster dose is required to increase your immunity.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Your headache can be from flu and tension

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. I feel your symptoms are due to flu and cold. I have seen many patients like you who get tensed and feel uncomfortable after dog bite even though they have taken vaccination.

2. I assure you that you are fine and there is zero risk of rabies to you.

3. Please stop thinking about the dog licking your finger and getting rabies. You can take paracetamol 500 mg for headache every 6 hours after food.

4. Your headache is also partly because of tension from the thought that you have not got immunoglobulin. Please remember that immunoglobulin is given in case of high risk cuts only and your dog licked your finger which was grade 1 class of wound.

5. I would like to follow up with you closely for the next one to two weeks and if you have any problems please let me know so that we can discuss in detail. Eat healthy food and keep yourself protected from cold weather.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
You are protected with vaccine and the symptoms are probably due to flu

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Your anxiety is high and the symptoms are because of thinking and flu. The weather is cold and you can have a flu. This will get better in a week and avoid dust pollution.

2. You have received vaccine and therefore protected.

3. No patient with vaccine will get rabies. Please think that you are protected and there is no chance of rabies.

Hope your query is answered.
