Question : what is the best antibiotic to take for uti i have taken cypro and bactrim 81 year old female . had it for 2 weeks still have it.

Hi and welcome to HCM.

These two antibiotics are most commonly used and if there is no improvement you should first do some tests to rule out complicated UTI and resistant types of bacteria.

It means that you need to get done ultrasound of kidneys,ureter and bladder(KUB) and urine culture sensitivity test first. Then, if there is resistant bacteria, you can try with Fosfomycin or Levofloxacin.

All this time you should drink plenty of fluids and raspberry tea to clean urinary tract.
