Question : Which antidpressans will not lower sodiium?
Brief Answer:
just avoid SSRIs
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Hyponatriemias is mainly associated with intake of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Zoloft. In most cases there is no significant sodium lowering but in some people it may lead to uncontrolled hyponatriemia so it should be stopped. In this case you should switch to another antidepreesant such as : tryciclic antidepressants such as amitriptilin or SNRIs such as cymbalt or less common MAOIs. However, even if you continue with zoloft, you can increase sodium intake to prevent hyponatriemia.
Wish you good health. Regards
