Brief Answer:
Dry mouth is a common, but irritating situation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I completely understand why you do not wish you use medication to treat this problem. Here are some suggestions to help you with this:
1) You said you have used over the counter mouthwash, I am assuming you are referring to the brand recommended by most dentists to treat this situation? I am not to mention brand names but what comes to mind is Biotene. There is the mouthwash, toothpaste and then there are the lozengers if you have not tried them. 2) Dentists often recommend sugar-free candies, mints and gums to chew on to stimulate saliva' 3) Purchase a colorful water bottle and carry it with you as you travel, take a sip whenever your mouth is dry or when you are trying to talk to someone and your lip sticks to your gum tissue; 4) Get tested for Sjogren's syndrome; 5) use a room humidifier; 6)Try not to breathe through your mouth; 7) have evaluation for sleep apnea.

I certainly hope some of these suggestions help. Please feel free to write me again if you need clarification. I am here to help. If, however, this answer completes your question, please close the questions out. Thank you for coming to HCM. Kathy Shattler, MS,RDN
