Hi and thank you fro asking !

You are reporting that your mother has been diagnosed with bleeding ulcer.
In such situations eating is recommended only if bleeding has stopped.
SO the first question is: has she active bleeding now? If yes than she will not use food. If no, than I will recommend as follows:
- eat often and small amount of meal
- use milk, eggs, bananas
- avoid using hot meal, she will use cold or in neutral temperature meal
- she can use soups , gravy and broth
- she can use spinach and XXXXXXX beets juice. it helps to improve blood account.

This diet will be followed by her for at least one week. After that she can start to eat and other foods but no spicy, chilly, fried etc.
Hope it was helpful to you
Wish her fast recovery!

thank you doctor. yes, the bleeding is stopped. her blood count is 75. she has been told she will be discharged when it reaches 80 so we hope she will leave later this week. the hospital doctors told her to google a diet (!) but i couldn't find any recommendations for anaemia that take into account her ulcers in the esophagus and duodenal. should she take an iron supplement too? have you any further suggestions?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

With regards to diet for improving anemia I can say that the diet that I wrote you will help her to improve blood account.
With regards to iron supplements use , yes she will start to use them but not at this moment.
Iron supplements some times have side effects like stomach upset this is why in such situation I prefer to start them later.
To my opinion she should use:
- gravy and broth two glasses per day
- vegetable and fruit juices two glasses per day
- she can use meat and fish more than 3 times per week

After one month she may start to use iron supplements and they will help to improve faster her blood account.

Wish her fast recovery.
