Suggest Dosage For Armour Thyroid

Question: I had been taking 2 Grains for Armour Tgyroid fow several years. Because of lack of insursnce coverage, my pcp changed the Rx to 200 mcg levothyroxin.
Today TSH came back.02 .
I want to go back on Armour, but what dosage?

100 mcg of Levothyroxin is one grain of armour thyroid

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Main stream MDs are not well versed with the doses of Armour thyroid as they do not believe its action since it is a natural thyroid alternative.

But 100mcg of Levothyroxin makes up to one grain so it should be 2 grains of Armour thyroid for 200mcg of Levo. However I suggest you to see a ND (naturopathic doctor) who is well experienced with dosing of armour thyroid.

Also please remember that armour thyroid has to be split in the morning and dinner after meal as it has T3 which has short half life. Thus a continous T3 level is maintained in the blood stream. I do suggest to get the Free T3 and Free T4 levels checked every month till a maintenance dose is obtained.

So you should first knock a ND door to understand about armour thyroid.
