Question: what is the maximum duration of treatment approved by the FDA for Bactrim (i.e.: 180 days?)

There is no such strict limit and bactrim can be taken even for 12 months if there is right indication such as chronic urinary infection. However,patient should have regular check of kidney markers. Wish you good health. Regards

Yes, I understand SMX/TMP has been prescribed for up to 24 months. My question though is, what is the time limit that the FDA allows for treatment. I couldn't find this answer after searching the site for Bactrim

It depends on the disease for which it is prescribed. As I said, for chronic infection of urinary tract it can be taken for 12 months while for skin or intra-abdominal infection it can be used for 2 weeks.
