Question : Hi-
I have been on bupropion XL 150 for 3 weeks. I can't say I feel any better. Actually, I feel worse. The depression has intensified. I can say that my personal stresses are quite overwhelming to me. I feel that I may need a higher dose.
Please advise me. I have a call out to my practitioner as well. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes, the hormones are entirely to blame; you will need an up in dosage

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. You are quite right in understanding how your hormones play an almost completely dominating role in your depression, as it is not fuelled by any other aspect or factor in your life.

Sadly, it is also true that you may require a revision in your dosage, possible an increase in the bupropion and also the hormones being administered. Your doctor may be hesitant to do so initially (as would I), but he/she needs to understand that the top priority in your case should be to control/suppress the depression first and then worry about the side effects an increased dosage comes with.

Have you always been the kind of person who has stressed excessively for the slightest obstacle or pressure, or has this begun only since the depression kicked in?
XXXXXXX I understand what you are going through, but you have to be strong and patient. Also, when your doctor finally does decide to up your dosage, be prepared to be faced with a few undesired side effects, but in my opinion it is the best option for now.

Once we have your hormones kicking in, we can begin to wean you off to a more safe and comfortable dosage. I hope this is clear and also hope you can find relief from your symptoms at the earliest. Please do not ever hesitate to write to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
