Suggest Dosage For Dilaudid

Question : My husband has a pain pump installed in Sept 2016. His medication in the pump is dilaudid. We have varying answers really the mg of use. Some say 2mg is at the top of the dosage, others say that it should be increased till they find a dosage that makes him comfortable. Please give us some insight. Thank you.

Maximal dose of hydromorphone delivered through pain pump is 10mg/day.

It is advisable to use the lowest dose possible to control the pain.
