Question: My very good doctor wanted me to take two Levofloxacins 500mg per day but the insurance company would not approve it. So now I am on just one per day. What should I do? Take two per day for two days then spread out the rest? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It can be taken either way.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

Mostly the dose of levofloxacin is 500 mg daily but in severe infections and if doctor feels so, even 2 tablets a day can be taken. There is nothing wrong with it.

You can take it either way-one 500mgm tablet daily for 5 to 7 days or two tablets for first 2 days and then one tablet a day. I would prefer the second option. The aim is to control the infection.

Take care.
