Question : druggist ran out of atenolol so dr substituted metopprolol trtrate. I have been taking atenalol 50 mg in am and 50 mg in PM. How do I stop aatenalol and then start metoprorolol --- hhow many should one beta blocker separated from another

I understand your concern and would explain that you can switch directly to metoprolol tartrate 50mg twice daily.

There is no need to wait too much.

You should just switch to the next dose. For example: You can take in the evening your daily dose of atenolol and you can take the next morning 50 mg metoprolol tartrate.

I would just recommend you to monitor your heart rate and blood pressure values for a week and refer them to your doctor, in order to make the right dose adjustments after a week.
