Suggest Dosage For Neurontin

Question: I have spinal stenosis which causes me to have sever pain in my back and legs. My Dr. prescribed neurontin 300mg at bedtime. Would a higher dose help?

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Gabapentin (Neurontin) is a first line treatment for the neuropathic pain which you have, so I agree with your doctor's choice.

As for the dosage, yes it can certainly be raised, it goes to 1800 mg a day (even higher in some cases). However that is done gradually, only if it is seen that the lower dosage doesn't work and that there are no significant side effects.
