Brief Answer:
recommended dose is 10mg twice a day.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concerns for your wife.

Duphaston is usually prescribed as 10mg twice a day.
It is given in those patients who have history of recurrent abortion or documented progesterone deficiency.
It is usually prescribed for first 12 weeks of pregnancy and can be stopped then (no gradual tapering required).

I would like to know why this drug was prescribed to your wife earlier? Was it her first pregnancy?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Take care.
Thanks.

It is her second pregnancy. First one was ended by eventual abortion on 8th week. She has a history of progesterone deficiency and take duphaston and proginova medicine first to stabilize the cycle before to get pregnant and then she been advised to use duphaston for 3 weeks during pregnancy from week 5 (when pregnancy actually was confirmed by blood test ).

Brief Answer:
duphaston to be continued for atleast 12-16 weeks of pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Sorry for the late response.

As she has progesterone deficiency, duphaston has to be continued in her case till 12 weeks of pregnancy atleast.
After that, placenta takes over the function to produce HCG/progesterone which mantain the pregnancy.
However, duphaston can be continued in later pregnancy as well to prevent preterm labour.

As your wife had abortion immediately after stopping duphaston in early pregnancy, I would suggest that she should continue the drug in this pregnancy.

Kindly discuss this with your doctor.

Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.
Thanks.
