Question : Hi, I've been prescribed Solupred for 4 days for asthma. I'm 64 and weigh 10 and a half stone. I also use Seravent, Clenil Modulite and Ventalin inhalers. I take one Lercanidipine 20 mg tablet for high blood pressure and one Escitalopram 10 mg tablet prescribed for hot flushes. My question is that I'm not sure of what dosage to take or when to take it.

Thanks for your question on HCM.

Solupred is prednisolone. And it is available in various strengths like 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg and 40 mg.
And its dosing is based on body weight in kilograms.

2. The strength of solupred you are having.
It should be taken in the morning after light breakfast.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

My weight is 67 kilograms .
The tablets are 20 mg. not sure if I should take 2 at once or 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Please advise.

Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.

You should take 2 tablets in the morning for 5 days.
Followed by 1 tablet in the morning for 5 days.
Followed by half tablet or 10 mg in the morning for 5 days.
Followed by 5 mg in the morning for 5 days.
This is the ideal way to take short term steroid.

We need to taper it slowly, to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
