Question : What is the right dosage for a 16.5lb infant for Tylenol 160mg per 5 mil
Brief Answer:
1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) of the 160 mg/5ml Tylenol.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,
Only give Tylenol to an infant if he/she has been otherwise healthy (no history of liver problems, etc). Also, if it is unclear as to the cause of fever or pain, please take your child in to be seen.
The usual dosing for children is 10-15 mg per kilogram per dose.
Your child ways 16.5 lb which is 7.5 kg. So 10 mg x 7.5 is 75 mg.
This is approximately 1/2 of a 160 mg. So 1/2 of 5 ml is 2.5 ml.
5 ml is 1 teaspoon. So give 1/2 tsp which would be 80 mg per dose.
I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
