Question : I have a 33 year old daughter who was diagnosed with bipolar condition as teenager. We have had many ups and downs, lots of medications, complications from these, etc. The most positive treatment to date was a 2 year attendance to a program in XXXXXXX called DBT - Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Sorry for spelling errors.
We support our daughter financially, emotionally, etc. What I would like to do is establish a support system to help her stay on track. That support system could include us, mom and dad, but we need others too. I am thinking along the lines of palliative care support. Our son is a palliative care Doctor and we have discussed this but not reached any conclusions. Do you have any ideas or information regarding this idea.

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

You are certainly right that your daughter needs a support network. It is wonderful that she has so much family to rally around her. However, palliative care would not be appropriate here. Palliative care refers to doctors who work with dying patients who no longer want to pursue medical treatment. This is for terminally ill patients. Your daughter will live a long and healthy life. Just be there as family and make sure she sees her psychiatric providers.
