Question: Hi Doctor.

I am XXXX. I have been diagnosed with Hypertrophic cardiomypathy(Non Obstructive) 3 yr back during an employemnt screening.My father has the same desease.Currently i am taking metolar xr 25 one tablet daily.My cardiologist said that it is genetic desease.So i wanted to know can it be prevented by taking genetic medicine.

There are no genetic medicines currently available for this. However here are the steps you could take

1. Keep your blood pressure under check, it should always be below 130/80
2. Avoid strenuous exercises like weight lifting. However cardio vascular exercises like running, jogging, cycling is a must. It should be done at least 30 min a day for atleast 3-4 days in a week.
3. Go for regular screening with thread mill test at least once in 6 months
4. Take a salt restricted diet, avoid papads, pickles ,etc

I also advise you to meet your cardiologist and opt for premptive heart transplant
