Question: Hi,

My name is XXXX XXXXXXX I am 44 years old and a diabetic patient for the past 7 years. I am currently on Insulin (30 units in the morning and 24 units at night) during day I have metformin (500 mg). I would like to go for a complete health check-up and would like you to suggest the required routine checks.

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

For diabetic patients with profile similar to you I usually suggest -
Complete physical examination including Blood pressure check, Foot examination for diabetic neuropathy.
Investigations -
- Complete Blood Count
- HbA1c.
- Lipid Profile.
- Renal Function Test.
- Calcium profile.
- Liver Function Test.
- Serum Vitamin B12 & D3 level.
- Ultra TSH.
- Urine albumin creatinine ratio and routine & microscopy.
- Fundoscopy to screen for diabetic retinopathy.
- ECG & 2DEcho of heart.
- Chest x-ray.
- Ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis for liver & kidney.

Depending upon detailed clinical examination and above test results more specific tests like
- Trade Mill Test (TMT) or CAG (Coronary Angiography) .
- Renal artery doppler.
- lower limb arterial doppler may be suggested.
