Suggest Medical Tests To Rule Out Hormonal Imbalance

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jun 2016
Question: Hello,

I was wondering what Dr. deals the most with hormones, and what tests would be done for this? I have had many ENT problems that I never had before, and weighing all my diagnosis it just seems strange. I have been on antibiotics, and have "metal-mouth" the same as when I was pregnant. I was wondering if ENT problems could be caused by hormonal imbalances, and what type of dr. and tests would I need?

Brief Answer:
Endocrinologist will help for hormonal evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,

Thanks for writing to us.

For hormonal treatment, you should consult with local Endocrinologist. Thyroid function should be evaluated for chronic and recurrent ENT problems.

Test includes: Serum TSH, T3 and T4, estimation of blood ACTH level.

Hormonal imbalance has little contribution regarding few ENT problems. Therefore, it should be evaluated clinically and by undergoing above mentioned tests.

Hope, I have answered your query. Wish your good health and take care.

Brief Answer:
Hair specialist or dermatologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up query.

Normally, 50-100 hairs may shed on daily basis. However, if there is excessive or significant shedding of hairs, then you need to consult with Dermatologist or Hair specialist to rule out underlying pathology (if any). It will be more worthwhile.

Hope, it helps for your information. Good luck and take care. Be stress free.
