I have had anxiety, depression, a hard time concentrating, headaches. NO contact with HIV. My neurologist ordered the VDRL , RPR, and an MRI of my brain and after that ruled out neurosyphilis. I was still concerned so my family doctor ordered the FTA-Abs test. They both said it is impossible to have neurosyphilis because if I was infected at any point it would have showed up in the FTA-Abs test.
I have been concerned that I could have been exposed to it 20 years ago. They are convinced I don't have it. Should I ensist on a CSF?? What tests should be done to the CSF?

Brief Answer:
Not require csf as symptoms are not of neurosyphilis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your symptoms and investigation are not suggestive of neurosyphilis.
You should get your Thyroid and vitamin B12 tested.
Anxiolytics may be taken to help in anxiety.
Csf anti treponemal antibodies and csf routine cell count may be done if you still want to get it done.
