Question: hi dr., I see a psychiatrist for adhd etc and am given random Cochran drug screen tests. my prescriptions include 30 mg of generic Adderall xr daily and 2 mg of clonazepam at night...which are included in the drug compliance test. my question: I may have to take the test this coning Wednesday at about 1:30pm. I took an Adderall xr at 9:15 Monday morning and one again on Monday night at 9:30pm. my question is should I take another Adderall xr on Tuesday or wait until Wednesday to take another. i was told by another dr. on this site that adderall leaves the urine within 45 hours; is that accurate. and if i take one on tuesday and wednesday, what time should i take them....or will that show on the test that i'm taking too much?????? if i should be given the test, i want to show compliance. or should i skip my session all together?

Brief Answer:
Just take the drugs as prescribed. All would be okay.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I understand the importance to test positive to show compliance and show justification for further refills. There is no need for special adjustments to ensure that you test positive. Just continue the drugs as prescribed and show up as planned.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and thanks for using our services. Also, feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
Please, simply resume as prescribed!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

There is really no point in getting worried. Even if the last dose was 3days leading up to this test, chances are still high that you will test positive. All you nee to do is to resume the plan as initially spelled out and all is okay. The half life is about how well it works and not the identifiability in the body system. You will need at least 5days for this to no longer be detectable. As such, be calm and take it just as prescribed and have no heightened worries about this. Do not change any times, simply return to the formal normal schedule even if it entails missing a dose. All will be fine on this test.

I hope this addresses your worry fully. I wish you well and keep me updated on how it goes.
