Brief Answer:
SSRIs are drugs of choice for such symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. PTSD and GAD both are disorders of anxiety spectrum disorders. In most of individuals with PTSD and GAD mild to moderate depression is found as co-morbid diagnosis.

In most individuals of such symptoms after proper evaluation SSRIs are drugs of choice. Escitalopram, Sertraline etc are best drugs to treat these symptoms. These medicines if taken regularly help to reduce symptoms in most individuals. As you have mentioned that drinking beer helps but that can control symptoms only and for proper treatment SSRIs would be needed. For acute relief of symptoms medicines like low dose benzodiazepines on SOS basis can help. Clonazepam, Lorazepam can help to control the symptoms. These drugs will also help in good sleep.

Please visit a psychiatrist for his evaluation and for prescription of these drugs.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.

Take care

Brief Answer:
Paroxetine, Sertraline etc should be taken in evening after dinner

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for asking a follow up

It depends upon the type of SSRI used. Fluoxetine, Escitalopram etc are advised to be taken by psychiatrists in morning hours. While Paroxetine, Sertraline etc drugs are known to cause sedation and thus also helps in sleep so should be taken in evening hours. So it depends upon the drug which is used.

Thanks, Still have more doubts please ask again. Take care
