Suggest Medication For Dry Cough And Vomiting

Question: Hello Dr.

Age of baby is 2 months and 25 days.
2nd baby is having Dry cough since today morning also having omitting during night time since 2 days. Recently switched to NAN PRO1 from PreNAN.

Current weight is 4.5 kg.

1st baby is fine.

Please suggest the medication to cure dry cough and Omitting.

Thanks for writing to us.
Cough can cause vomiting in babies, because coughing increases pressure inside abdomen resulting in compression of stomach- leading to vomiting.

Most coommon causes of cough at this age
1. Viral infection
This should settle on its own. Try mucolite drops 0.3ml twice daily which is usually prescribed for cough at this age.

2. Throat infection
If cough doesnt improve in 48 hours consider this possibility
This needs confirmation by your pediatrician.

3. Reflux
Mild gastro esophageal reflux is common in this age, try burping after each and every feed.
Domstal drops 0.2ml can be given for vomiting two times daily. Discuss all about aforementioned medication with your doctor.
