Question: I have got a high cholesterol levels. Pl let me know should I be going for medication or changing my lifestyle could bring it to normal.
Triglyceride: 268.3
Cholesterol Total: 286
HDL: 39.6
LDL: 191

I am Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
I have gone through your query.Thanks for using HCM.
You should know the target level of lipids which are as under.
S.cholesterol should be less than 150,LDL should be less than and Triglycerides below 200.you should follow diet control ,exercise regularly and take regular statin.
Those who have LDL above 160 need stating group of medication life long.
Avoid fatty and fast food .Go for brisk walk daily for 30 minutes. While on stating monitor liver enzyme SGPT and muscle enzyme CPK to look for possible side effects.
You must continue medication like Rozuvastatin and monitor lipids after 3 months and titrate the dose in consultation with your doctor.
