Suggest Medication For Severe Acne Despite Taking Doxycycline

Question : Hello,
I have acne issues since 3 to 4 months now. i have taken doxycyline pills(2 week) and diane 35 also (25 days- 1 course). but doesnt seem to work and have also tried out all home remedies. My situation is, i have my wedding on may 9. is there any way i can get back my normal skin for my v-day?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.

Just 2 weeks of doxycycline and just 1 course of diane 35 is not enough to be able to get completely rid of acne. It usually takes 2-3 months of oral and topical treatment to have a significantly visible improvement in moderately severe to severe grade of acne. Therefore I suggest you to continue with these oral medications. In addition I would also suggest you to use topical clindoxyl gel (clindamycin 1%+ benzoyl peroxide 5%) twice daily for active acne. This would help in faster resolution of acne in next 2 weeks.
