Suggest Medication For Severe Anxiety And Depression

Question: I suffer from an anxiety/depression disorder. After several years of psycological work it has been determined to be a chemical imbalance. My symptoms are very similar thyroid conditions yet all my blood tests come back negative. This case has me experiance tons of anti-depresants as well as seroquil and clonazepan. I am getting no where but symptoms are getting really hard to deal with. I am collecting disability due to this affliction. Any advice would be great.

If you labs tests are negative, this means you probably have depression and, I'm guessing from the Klonopin, issues with anxiety as well. The standard treatment for depression and anxiety both is a combination of medication and therapy. There are nearly two dozen antidepressant medications, so I'd need to know what you have taken. Have you taken an MAOi such as Nardil or Parnate? TCAs such as amitriptyline or nortriptyline? Atypicals such as Remeron and Wellbutrin? Have you tried ECT (shock therapy)? I am ready to be taken care of the Hospital but can't make them understand how my symptons are so bad. If I go to the ER they will probably inject ativan. It has worked in the past but seems to be of little of no help. All my meds just seem to be a waste of time. Am considering a 911 call as I feel so bad. Anxiety is really ruining my life. I know it won't kill me but feel terrible. Are there any suggestions that you might have to let the ER doctor that this is a physical ailment and am suffering very bad symptoms.

If you feel bad enough, you should certainly visit the ER. However, anxiety is usually not considered an emergency. A psychiatric emergency is when someone feels suicidal, homicidal, or unable to safely take care of themselves at home. The short-term treatment for anxiety is benzodiazepines such as Ativan, but the long-term treatment is an antidepressant plus therapy as I discussed.
