Question : My 15 year old son is in Zantac (generic) 150 two times a day for stomach problems. He just got his braces tightened and is feeling some pain. Can I give him Tylenol or Advil? Everything on line says no.

Thanks for posting in HCM.
Zantac (ranitidine ) is a drug which is used for gastric acidity problem.
This medication should be given before food.
Usually we can give tylenol or advil for pain even if person is taking zantac.
But you have not mentioned here whether the pain is due to braces or is it abdominal pain.
Kindly confirm whether the pain is due to braces or is abdominal pain so that I can advise you properly which medication to be taken.

Thanks for following up with me.
As the pain is due to braces, tylenol or advil can be safely given to reduce the pain.
Give the tablet after food as it causes acidity. Hence to be taken after food.
And as he is already on zantac there won't be any acidity problem.
You can give either of the meds to him.
