Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCAREMAGIC..

As per your complain severe pain in tooth can be due to causes like deep decay in tooth, fractured tooth, deep gum infection causing infection below root tips of tooth etc..

It has to be investigated by consulting a dentist and getting an x ray of tooth done..
In case if there is tooth decay and tooth is in condition to be saved then Root Canal Treatment will be done while if there is gross decay, extraction is advisable..

As of now you can take higher painkillers like Ketorolac or Tramadol after consult a local physician..
Apply clove oil over the tooth..
Do cool compresses over the cheek..

It can however be temporary, therefore you should get the tooth treated for permanent resolution..

Please write back for further queries..

Hope this helps..

Regards..

I had a root canal in that tooth a few years ago and I have an appointment coming up to get it taken care of. The pain has stopped after antibiotics and I don't have anymore. I don't have any of the pain killers you suggested. I have some old cough medicine, bromfed, but I don't know if it has any painkillers in it. I'm desperate right now and that's the only script I have

Brief Answer:
Bromfed is not a painkiller..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome back..

Bromfed is not a painkiller and will not help you in this condition..

The painkillers I suggested has to be prescribed by a local physician and get it from pharmacy as they are helpful in relieving severe pain..

It will help in reducing pain and as the tooth is already treated with Root Canal Treatment, there seems re-infection in tooth and you need to get an x ray of the tooth done and if possible re-Root canal treatment can help in relieving the symptoms..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
