Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.

First of all, let me tell you that vertigo can be manifestation of multiple diseases or disorders, of various systems also. A person can have vertigo in blood pressure imbalances, ear problems, neck pain and spondylosis, central nervous system problems and many more. Hence, it is always advisable to get clinically checked by a physician to assess the cause of it. Because it can be due to many causes, the treatment options are also different from one another.
However, you have asked about medications for vertigo.
Gravol or dimenhydrinate is an over the counter drug for vertigo and dizziness.
Whereas, betahistine is one prescription drug which is very commonly used to treat vertigo.
Meclizine can be found both over the counter and through prescription depending upon brand names.
But again, though these drugs may give you temporary relief, treatment of the cause is most important in dealing with vertigo.

Hope i have answered your question.
If you have any further questions i will be happy to help.
Regards.
