Brief Answer:
Yes, there is hope for your daughter to take that weight off

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon,
I understand your concern for your daughter and her weight. Obesity in teens is a complex issue best dealt with by a team consisting of a doctor, dietitian, therapist, education and support groups.

There are structured comprehensive programs in the US for teen obesity. I imagine she will need the integrated support of a weight loss medication if doctor agrees, she needs intensive nutritional education, environmental control of her eating environment and psychological support for overcoming aspects associated with being this heavy at this age.

I understand you had her work with a personal trainer, but maybe this wasn't the route for her. How does your daughter feel about her weight? Have you discussed it with her? Are there family meals? Does she sneak food or does she show motivation to change?

I appreciate your concern for your daughter and I agree it is imperative to start implementing a workable weight loss program.

There is also genetic obesity, not to be used as an excuse, but if your daughter is also genetically prone to obesity, the struggle may seem harder for her and possibly depressing and demotivating.

There is a new weight loss medication out, did you discuss with your doctor? But I emphasize, medication is only one piece of the puzzle.

I just had a client lose half her body weight without exercise and using correct eating habits alone. She lost 165 pounds over a period of 4 years. Your daughter and you can do it.

Please feel free to discuss all of this with your daughter and get back with me as to how she feels. She has to be committed, not just you.

Thank you for reaching out for encouragement and believe me, if you and your daughter want something bad enough, it is possible. XXXXXXX Shattler, MS,RDN

Brief Answer:
I can give you a couple of ideas

Detailed Answer:
Two drugs recently in the news for prescription weight loss are qsymia and Belviq.

If you ever want to find a dietitian near you type in the" Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics", enter your zip code and you can find one near you who may be able to guide you to local resouces to help your daughter.

Good luck! If I have answered your questions please feel free to close out the query.
