Suggest Pain Management Alternatives Other Than Oxycodone For Chronic Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 25 Feb 2015
Question: I have found out that my body will not tolerate any painkillers post-knee surgery, with the exception of Tylenol. This is not relieving my pain substantially, and makes physical therapy difficult. I can not tolerate oxycodone or tramadol. What pain management alternatives are available for those can not tolerate opiates? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
tricky, what about aspirin like drugs ?

Detailed Answer:
certainly anti-inflammatories would be the first drug to try in an inflammatory condition. while this includes the usual naproxen, indocin, etc. it also includes topical forms of it which are significantly less irritating to the stomach. In addition, studies have shown a significant stomach protective effect from proton pump inhibitors on the effects of aspirin like drugs on the stomach.

In short, aspirin like drugs.
