Question: i recently had sex with a girl who is now pregnant. she has gone to her doctor for a blood test and found out that she is 7 weeks pregnant however we have only been together 5 weeks. how accurate is a blood test? Might i not be the father?

Brief Answer: the rise can vary from one female to the other Detailed Answer: HI, thanks for using healthcare magic The blood tests detects the HCG hormone. HCG hormone is produced during pregnancy. As the pregnancy progresses the levels of HCG steadily increase. Its levels doubles every 1 to 4 days. The level of HCG at 5 weeks would be slightly different than at 7 weeks but it is important to remember than every woman is different and there levels may rise in an unpredictable fashion. At 5 weeks the upper limit is approximately 7000 and at 7 weeks it may be between 7000 to over 200 000. As mentioned before, HCG rise can vary in pregnancy so your partner's level may not be entirely accurate predictor of her dates. I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
