Question : My 91 yr. old uncle had a stroke, had a CAT but nothing, awaiting an MRI...
Speech & memory very difficult....best to for him to recover at a memory rehab versus a regular rehab???
Should we have hospital assign him a neurologist for a prescription to a memory rehab???Will memory rehab include physical therapy as well?

I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

I fully understand your concerns and I shall try to address them at best.

Physical and mental rehabilitation(PMR) is a separate speciality of medicine which encompasses physical as well as mental rehabilitation.Mental rehabilitation includes behavioral strategies used to improve memory,as well.

In nutshell,PMR is a medical speciality which deals with all major rehabilitation issues.

So,I suggest that you should take your uncle to a Doctor who is a PMR specialist.
