Suggest Proper Diet Other Than Breast Milk For An Infant

Do not worry about kidney overload
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms,
There is nothing to be worried about stressing the kidneys.
Adequate feeds is assessed by following
1. Adequate gain in weight: Ideally the birth weight should double by 5 months of age. As the baby is weighing 15 pounds, the weight gain is adequate. On an average they should gain weight at rate of 30-40 grammes per day. So have a watch on it
2. Should pass urine adequately: At least 6-8 times a day or 3-4 diaper changes in 24 hours
3. Oral mucosa is moist: This rules out dehydration
4. Sleeps well after feeds: at least 2-3 hours of sleep after every feeds
5. Baby is playful and joyful
6. Assessment by your Pediatrician everything is fine
One of the commonest mistake done in giving external feeds is either more or less water to reconstitute the feeds. Adding the recommended quantity of water to feed powder is sufficient to ensure not overloading the kidney. Too dilute feeds may not be able to fulfil the nutritional requirements.
