Question : Hi I am 29 years old and have pcod. I am seeing severe hairfall sunce 2 weeks abd also dandruff or dry scalp not sure since couple of months. Just if i pull a bit then lot of hair is coming off. I am worried why is this happening as i am seeing density of hair is decreasing sharply. Please suggest quick remedies. I am using garnier blend royal jelly shampoo and conditioner since 2 months. Using nizoral occasionally.

I am Dr kakkar (Dermatologist and Venereologist). I have noted your concern.
Dandruff is a common cause of increased hair shedding. In addition PCOD itself cause hair thinning and hair loss from the frontal and mid scalp - androgenetic alopecia. This thinning is due to an excess of male hormones like testosterone.
For dandruff I suggest you to use a ketoconazole based shampoo e.g Nizoral shampoo, every alternate days. For hair thinning you may take an antiandrogen e.g Finasteride 2.5mg - 5mg. I also suggest you to take specific treatment for PCOD like hormonal pills as they would help to regularize hormonal imbalance. These are all prescription medications and I advice you to kindly talk to your local practitioner for a prescription of the same.
