Question : What can I do to increase the depletion of a blood clot...I have a blood clot in my left leg...from my ankle to my stomach. I am taking xalrelto and the clot has not shrunk in four months., what other medicine will dissolve the clot

Hello,

xarelto helps to reduce the risk for clot propagation but it cannot and will not make the clot dissolve. The clot may only dissolve with time (if it will). So the answer to your question is that there is no drug to help with that.

It's an anticoagulant

Protein S is synthesized in the liver. Its production depends on vitamin K. You don't get protein S from food, only the liver can make it.

Protein S works as an anticoagulant by inactivating previously activated coagulation factors. Protein S prevents clot formation.
