Question : Hi. I just found today a hard warm lump on my neck/shoulder area. It is also a little painful and it's kind of got a redness to it with a dot in the middle. I was thinking maybe an abcess?

Can you please attach a photo of this lump? Otherwise it is very hard to give valuable answer.

From you description it might be an abscess. Especially if you have had a lump before the pain has appeared.
The best way to treat it, is its incision and drainage. General surgeon should do that.
