Brief Answer:
Please meet an ent doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hello
The most common cause for the swelling in the neck is an infection and the most common source of the infection is the upper airway. This can be best assessed by an ENT doctor.
The doctor will examine your wife and ask you to do a blood test to confirm the infection. Depending on the examination, he may ask for an X-ray of the neck and Chest and ultrasound of the neck.
Please meet your doctor and let me know what he tells.

Brief Answer:
The medicication is correct
Detailed Answer:
Hello
The doctor has given your wife an antibiotic for the infection and is the correct thing to do.
The blood test which i would order for a patient with similar complaints would be
1. Total leucocyte count
2, Differential leucocyte count
3. Peripheral smear
4. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
This information will tell me the type and extent of infection.
