Question : Hi, I had the attached skin rash show up on my ankle overnight. It has enlarged a bit and gotten a bit more red. It is beginning to itch a bit but doesn't look like normal poison ivy to me.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

i am dr.kakkar(drrmatologist). I have gone through your query and i have also reviewed the image.

I can see deep red inflammatory rash with a pattern (horizontal lines) to it as if getting brushed off with a plant.

This does look like an irritant dermatitis, probably due to contact to poison ivy.

I suggest you to use a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream, twice daily.
