Brief Answer:
He needs to be treated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

You're correct - the health department recommend that everyone with chlamydoa and gonorrhea be treated with antibiotics. In addition, all partners (most recent partner and all partners within the past 60 days) should be tested and treated. You son and his girlfriend should also refrain from sexual contact for until 7 days after full antibiotic treatment. He should also be retested after treatment.

Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the United States. It is transmitted through vaginal, anal, or oral sex; in addition it is transmitted vertically during vaginal delivery. Most cases are asymptomatic, especially in females. Untreated disease can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, and infertility.
