Suggest Remedies For Dizziness And Fluctuating BP Levels

Question: My mom is 81 years old. On April 15th, she suffered a hard fall (with bruises on face and body, but no broken bones). Since then she has been getting severely dizzy and has been rushed to the ER 3 times. I just purchased her a new blood pressure cuff. Her blood pressure has been consistently 131/66 - 125/58

She has been on the same blood pressure meds since forever (Metoprolol Tartrate 25 mg twice daily). She is also taking the following meds:
Amlodipine Besylate
Calcium
Docosahexanoic Acid/EPA
Furosemide (Lasix) 40mg
Levothtroxine Sodium (Synthroid)
Meclizine ( Antivert)
Potassium Cloride 10 mEq
Rosuvastatin Calcium (Crestor)

Please advise. Her blood pressure is way to low, right? Would this be causing the dizzy spells? What type of doctor (specialist) should I have her referred to?

Thank you so very much

Brief Answer:
Blood pressure is within normal ranges.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Blood pressure values are normal, so, blood pressure medications are working correctly.

Dizziness may be related to inner ear dysfunction, so, it is necessary for your mother to be evaluated by an ENT Doctor first.

Low thyroid gland function also may result in dizziness, so, thyroid gland function should be measured and if anything results abnormal, synthroid dosage should be adjusted.

Orthostatic hypotension (lowering of blood pressure related to body position) also should be considered.

Please discuss with your mother's primary care Doctor about these issues, he can order appropriate tests and consultations.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
