Question: Hello and thank you to whoever is reading this and awake. I just took Excedrin for mild headaches a couple hours ago and my throat feels dry and tight. I'm looking at the back of my tongue and I have some unusual looking taste bud bumps that have risen, can anyone tell me what's going on?

Brief Answer:
This could be a mild allergic reaction!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this dry and tight throat that you have reported after taking excedrin. I have reviewed your information fully and the drug information. This could be a possible allergic reaction to one of the components. However, the severity of the symptoms doesn't warrant any panic or need for treatment discontinuation. I will suggest that you go on and continue with the treatment. If you get like worsening breathing symptoms, please report to me. Also, try to get an image of these strange looking bumps that you have reported to me.

I hope this helps. Keep me updated. I wish you well.

Hello Dr.Chobufo Ditah,
Thank you very much for your help. Surprisingly i was thinking the same thing when trying to figure this out (though i am no doctor). After getting some sleep i feel a bit better however, my throat still continues to feel dry and tight. I know this may sound wierd but when i burp it feels good because i let air out of my throat and also in, but then it goes back to feeling tight. I noticed i also could not sleep because of the pills (i took 2) they contain caffeine. I did some research prior to asking for help but could not figure out what was wrong. I really hope that this will go away in time as the drug finishes its process, along with the bumps in the back of my tongue that i have never seen before. I've attached a picture of the bumps on my tongue for you to take a look at. Thanks again, looking forward to your response.

Brief Answer:
Sure you are a lot better!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the image. I have reviewed it and the added information. I can assure you all is going right. Your taste buds are in line with a possible inflammatory reaction the throat and ties with your symptoms. Like you figured out, caffeine really takes sleep away.

Continue with treatment and all will be okay!
