Question : My boyfriend drank a lot of bourbon 2 nights ago & his hangover has turned into something that makes me think he's really sick. He 22 years old & only drinks heavily on occasion. He's been hydrating with water & resting a lot, but he has had a fever for 15 hours & he's clammy & can't walk on his own. He's emotional & his head & knees & back hurts. What could he have??

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

This could be significant alcohol withdrawal or a serious infection. This needs to be assessed with bloodwork and treated in a monitored setting. I would call 911 or take him directly to an emergency room.
