Brief Answer:
Colonoscopy for constipation

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are 91.7 years old and because of hemorrhoids and constipation your doctors have recommended a colonoscopy. I would think twice about having a colonoscopy. I have had too many of my geriatric patients who have had colonoscopy and have complications like a perforation. There really is no reason to have a colonoscopy at your age. The information that would get would not out weigh the risk of the procedure. As long as you can have a bowel movement with the use of prune juice or miralax I would continue with this treatment plan.

I hope I answered your question. If you have any additional questions please contact us again
