Question : I have hard stools probably from medicine changes. It is causing fissures that are very painful. I have tried everything

Your concern regarding hard stool and fissures can be addressed as following.
1. Avoid constipation
- drink plenty of water 2-3 liters per day, Increase fiber content in diet.
- use bisacodyl
- use Duphalac 2-3 teaspoons per day
- increase physical activity
If no improvement than you can try to use Clean prep one packs/1 liter water per day.
2. To help healing anal fissure I would suggest to :
- Do sitz bath 3-4 times a day
- use preparation H
- use chamomile tea for anal region
- keep anal region dry and clean.

What could be the cause of the hardening stools? Medication changes, new diet) or could it be ansymptom of something more serious? I did have CABGx4 four month agos

- low water intake

- low physical activity
- large bowel tumors

Is it possible for a 42 year old to get colon cancer? Could that be what this may be? How do I get this checked?
as far as your q's from before:
I exercise daily
drink tons of water
diet is high in fibers
meds : beta blocker, aspirin, vitamins, Lipitor
just got off Zoloft 2 weeks ago (could it be w/drawl symptom?)

With regards to medications, Zoloft has constipation as side effect but not as a withdrawal symptoms.
On the other hands stress caused by stopping Zoloft can cause constipation and aggravate IBS symptoms.
After 40 years of age the risk for cancer is higher. but it is not the first diagnose at your case because you don't have other typical symptoms like weight lose, abdominal pain and stool mixed with blood.
As i mentioned earlier at your case stress can cause constipation. Further evaluation includes colonoscopy
